Groundwater
Groundwater refers to the supply of
freshwater beneath the earth's surface, usually in aquifers. Because groundwater
is a major source of drinking water, there is growing concern over areas where
leaching agricultural or industrial pollutants or substances from leaking
underground storage tanks contaminate groundwater. Wells and springs are
supplied by groundwater.
UEMRI: The Dublin Statement on Water and Sustainable
Development (Document)
The 1992 Dublin Statement on Water and Sustainable Development, of which the
four 'Dublin Principles' form a core part, focusses on he protection of
groundwater resources, and outlines a clear action agenda to be implemented for
the purpose.

GWP: The Ground Water Management Advisory Team (Advisory
Team)
The Groundwater Management Advisory Team (GW-MATE) offers strategic assistance
in several areas. In full consultation with stakeholders it can provide advice
on groundwater resource management and protection, on the role of governments,
on associated policy and institutional issues, and by helping to mobilise
stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of improved management systems.

IWA: Analytical Models to Evaluate Natural Attenuation of
Groundwater Pollutants (Book Review)
The book presents to engineers, consultants, groundwater scientists and students
a fundamental approach to understanding and using the three-dimensional
equations that describe fate and transport of contaminants in groundwater. The
book will give a background on the topic of natural attenuation as a groundwater
cleanup alternative, and will necessarily emphasize the evaluation of subsurface
microbial activity and its exploitation for the purposes of cleaning up
contaminated sites.

WRC: Groundwater Strategic Master Plans (PDF Document)
Following recommendations made by the Coordinating Committee for Geohydrological
Research, the WRC has published a document with a list of research needs. The
document also include a list of current research projects
